As some of you know, we went over to Munich a couple of weeks ago to visit my Dad who will be 90 next February. It was fabulous to see him looking and feeling so well. We walked miles together and he coped just fine. Hope I'm that fit at that age!
We spent the first few days in Munich, visiting the Oktoberfest 3 time; twice to watch the parades of horses from all the breweries and surrounding villages. Then twice in the big beer tents where Dad and Andy got through rather too much beer.
We almost had to carry Dad out to a taxi both times! Actually I found it incredible that you could get such enormous crowds of very drunk people all together but no unpleasantness at all. Dad even insisted on going into one of those mirror maze things where the floor moves etc! He had to be rescued at one point and when we finally found our way out, there was a big crowd of people cheering! Don't think health and safety would have allowed it over here. It was a great experience but I don't think I want to hear an "Umpah band" again for a very long time!
Then we spent a couple of days in the medieval town of Bamburg, in Northern Bavaria. It's a really beautiful place, one of the UNESCO protected towns.

I really enjoyed seeing and reading about your adventures. I admire your Dad walking around all over like that at age 90, I hope I can be that mobile when (if) I reach his age
