Tonight at supper we went to a pub and I caught a glimpse of some of the damage being done in Glasgow and probably the rest of Scotland (US news/weather isn't the most comprehensive). Stay safe!!! We'll be sending along calming vibes from here

It's a calm chilly morning today and we still have a chimney pot in the garden and a piece of guttering off at the back of the house - no injuries to human or equine so that is the main thing

we have a lot of clearing up to do, and a couple of horses at the yard have had to be stabled elsewhere as they don't currently have a roof, but things are getting back to normal. One of the youngsters that jumped out of his paddock yesterday and got injured, doesn't seem too bad either fortunately.

We are all fine after some very high winds, we lost a few roof sheets and had some trees/branches down, but us and all the ponies are well. I did manage to get to Middlesbrough yesterday, just before the police closed the road as the River Tees had broken its banks because of the tidal surge. The tide had gone out by the time I came home, so the roads were open again.
I did have quite a worrying time as I'd heard about damage and flooding danger on the north Norfolk coast, where my son and his family live, and couldn't get hold of them to check they were ok. Luckily, they are all fine, although they were evacuated from their home and still cannot get back there as the police have the roads closed until after tomorrow's high tide. Luckily they are staying with the parents-in-law not too far away, so not having to rough it!

Glad you are all OK up there, yes the Norfolk, Suffolk and part of Essex coast have been hit by high tides and some people have lost their homes into the sea, which must be devastating. Luckily we are about 20 miles in land so all the damage we had was one shed roof and some fencing.

Blocked roads, trees down (including my favourite wild cherry, fences down and the big shed got hit by a falling branch, but no animals got hurt or escaped which is the most important thing. THere was a big branch right on top of the horse's hay ring - I think it must've come down while they were at it becasue they wouldn't go near it for a couple of days! The worst injury was me falling on my butt trying to shift a fallen tree!!
We honestly thought the roof was coming off the house at one point in the night, all the timbers were really creaking. There was good thunder and lightening too. The river rose a good 4 feet and we had to shift machinery and equipment back in case the bank collapsed, but luckily it held.
We had no power for 20 hours but could cook on the Rayburn and lit a fire so stayed cosy - rather nice with candles lit, a lovely soft light and no telly or computer.
After the wind we got a few inches of snow that's all melting now, so the fields are a muddy mess and ponies have mud clinkers up to their hocks. Well, Willow and Harley do, Lady somehow hasn't got any at all....

that's some really scary weather!!! It's so sad to hear of the devastation hopefully things can be mended before the rest of winter sets in. I'm so glad everyone's come through safely though.

That sounds horrendous Jane! I hope the big shed is OK after all the work you put in building it Glad the animals all survived OK, mine all put themselves in the open rather than the shed when the worst of the weather was going through so I think your herd was probably less worried tha you were in the house Lady won't have mud, she's a girlie girl don't you know?
