Oh no, I'm sorry to hear people in the UK are having the same flooding/no electricity issues. Much of the middle to east coast of America got some very nasty storms that took out electricity. I had some relatives dodging flooding and ice storms, but they are all used to it and merrily got on with celebrations via cookouts and camping out at relatives' places. I hope by now people have their electrics restored so they can cheerily usher in the New Year. And Heather I'm so happy to hear your renovations are clipping along and coming together so well *knock on wood! I know how horrid it can be during the renovations, but it's a lovely, cozy feeling afterwards to know it's all new and shiny and functioning ...editing to add, we had the strangest Christmas dinner ever for us. We had emergency plumbing so we were without kitchen sinks. Eldon stopped by Pizza Hut for 3 pizzas to tide us over the holidays. It was such an odd holiday, but still relaxing and fun.
