I have a tiny feral cat up at the yard that I can't often get near. Today I found him with a bald patch on his shoulder about 2" across and about 10 infected bite marks in it. He let me catch him (unusual!!) and when I poked around the pus flowed over my hand. He has done this before - gone off to hide, when he is ill, then come to find me when it gets really bad. As I don't always get close to him, I cant always spot an injury.
Anyway, I am not one to rush to the vets, but this needed more than wound spray, so I now have a very angry, sulking cat and a lighter purse! Did I want to give him antibiotics twice a day - I think not, we will go for the long lasting injection. While we had hold of him, the poor chap was also wormed and flead and given an mot.
I will know if he is better as he will shoot away from me as usual.

Well done getting him sorted. Not easy with feral cats as I know only too well!

Always hard with the wild ones. Hopefully he will recover and be back to mouseing soon.

I have some royal canin tins of dog food left over after the dog's operation, so the cat thinks Christmas has come again!! Feeding him up while he is feeling rotten, but also sneaking in the wormers

What luck you could get ahold of him at all! Fingers crossed he'll rebound all on his own. I would have gone for the long term ab shot too sometimes these vets don't grasp ~ feral cat. Might as well say you've got a tiger by the tail, IF you're lucky enough to catch ahold of the tail

No chance of catching him tonight!! The wound looks ok from a distance, so hopefully he is on the mend. He likes Royal Canin!!

Glad he is eating and obviously feeling better - we have one here at work, I know she's around but she stays well out of anyones way (and the dogs)
I'd have gone the whole hog while you had him and had his bits off too!!!!! Might stop the fighting
