I've just been listening to the news and hoping all dalesfans survived unscathed. We were lucky in this part of Lincolnshire and missed the worst of it. I haven't been out yet to see if there is any damage but think every thing is fine. Stable roofs still appear to be on and I can see Harvey at the far end of his field talking to the neighbours horses over the beck.

It was pretty bad here but we're still intact. The surveyor comes tomorrow so I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed.

I had to travel from Manchester to home. It was horrendous, especially as I have only just got some mobility back and a three hour journey did nothing to help it. Roads closed and lorries and vans scattered everywhere . Very scary.

I really feel for all those on the south or west coasts, or in flood plains. We have been really lucky here although the mud is not nice. Can't complain about mud though with everything else the elements are throwing at GB at present.

My husband came across a tree across a main road with a car under it. Nobody hurt, but he stayed to stop and turn traffic. He couldnt believe peoples reactions: "Are you sure I cant get past?" (Can you fly?!) "Now I'm going to be late" (Yes, so is the man with the car under a tree!) He didnt actually say that, but it was tempting!!!

Some people are unbelievable I encountered the same thing Monday morning coming back from doing the ponies, there was big stretch of sheet ice at the bottom of a very steep hill with a junction at the bottom. It wasn't very visible but there was already a car stuck at the bottom that had tried to get up, I spotted it, turned round to go a different way and warned 2 other drivers coming down, both of whom said are you sure we can't get down? Have to say I replied and said well I'm not if you want to try crack on!

I find it SO odd, but the exact same night for you in the UK, we were having a violent storm as well. Bloss and Dundee were smirking because they were cosey in their stalls, repleat with water at the ready and more than enough hay. The morning after, I was trying to wake up as I realize one then two of my mares weren't in the fields I put them in. The violent storm the night before had flattened a section of my fencing. We wasted a full day sorting the fencing again. As for the mud, a few days of rain have gotten us on track for our normal, winter precipitation. I reckon another 3 to weeks, and we'll be peachy keene/sorted once again

We had trees down at the yard. One is in the paddock George uses in the summer so that means lots of his shade will have gone. Thankfully no damage nor anyone injured.
