I wash my elecric fence rope it gets really green and manky so it's gets a soak in bleach then a wash in washing detergent, the water gets really green and I'm sure it makes the rope work better I'm not so mad as to take it down just to wash it but when we are re-doing the fencing I'll wash any that looks really mucky

LOL No I've never tried that one but, thinking about it, I can see why removing all the algae and collected mud would improve the conductivity through the rope. Perhaps that should be my job for the weekend............

No I don't do that either but some of my tape is looking very green now, not sure I can face doing it though.

Lol. I suspect I may be dafter We have a huge water-beetle that lives in the water-trough in the Maternity Wing. It's grown to 2 inches long and is called Walter. Every time we drain the trough, we catch Walter and put him in a bucket to save him from homelessness, then release him back into the trough once it's full

I've never done that but I think I will now, it sounds a really good idea. I suspect it would give better conductivity and it also makes it more visible to the ponies when they are careening about playing silly wotsits. Good tip Zelda

I've never done it, not sure I would want to either - sounds more like a job for my daughter or husband than me Helen that's really lovely, I'm sure Walter appreciates it

It's not that awful to do I just leave the rope tied in a loop, and swoosh it about a bit leave it to soak and scrubble it about rinse then hang it up to drip dry
