Wow Zelda, this has given me goosebumps! I love history, and it's exciting to see your Great Grandfather with his shop. Does the shop still exist? Does your family have stories about it? They look very happy and rightfully proud of it

I think it was demolished in the 60's to put some horrible new building up, I'm afraid I know very little about my dads side of the family, my mum didn't get on with my dads father (the shop was on my dads maternal side) or my dad laterly so things were difficult:( my dad was named after his Grandfather. I seem to come from a line of shopkeepers I have a pic of my Great Great Grandfather outside his shop This is my Great Grandfather and family including a my Grandmother and her twin

Fascinating! The older I get, the more interesting I find these old photos of family.

I like old family history photos too. I always think life looked so much tougher then, and they make me appreciate the relative ease of modern living

Such neat photos! I'm another who really enjoys hearing about ancestors and I agree, our lives are such a doddle compared with 'back then'. It's easy to forget the simple comforts we enjoy, like indoor plumbing and central heating
