I think last night I picked up a trojan or virus on Dalesfans. I was on here when something fought with me over my mouse and then zoomed my page way out. While I was fighting I spilled a beverage on my laptop as well I left it to dry out overnight, and it seems to be functioning well, but something is still fighting with me for my mouse and my computer is running like crazy, but I only have one page up. I use Ad Aware, and have Windows Defender for a backup protection, but clearly this thing is able to get around those defences. What is your favorite program for removing a trojan/virus once you get it? All my systems say they're okay, but I see odd names being allowed when it runs the scan. I hate hackers.

Have you updated to Windows 8.1? Apparently platform 8 left as it is leaves users open to attack. We're a mac home but back in the PC days I can remember having to reload all of my software to cut out malware. On the other hand it could be Halloween related and once the ghoulies and ghosties have finished duking it out, perhaps they will leave your pc in peace. In the interim I'd just put the computer out on the porch and pour another beverage.

Thank you for the heads up with Windows 8. I'd no idea! I spent most of yesterday fighting with the dual screen (whoever created Metro...DUMBEST. IDEA. EVER. ) I think I have all the updates that are needed before I'm allowed to download their Windows 8.1. Wish me luck

Sorry to hear your cell phone caught something too it's the 3rd party ads. Normally my anti virus blocks everything, and I have all sorts of blockers in place, but this one got around all that somehow. I've updated to Windows 8.1 and knock on wood it does seem to be running better than before. I just wish I could stop Windows from making all these log reports. It slows my computer down something fierce.

I'm not really a techie person but I've had a quick look at the proboards help forum - any one can look and post, you don't have to be a moderator. I haven't gone through it properly but Proboards say they have a non tolerance attitude to these pop ups and say, if you get one, to take a screen shot and show them.

Thanks for the extra help Pam! I wish I could take a screenshot. A few laptops back, I actually learned how to, but my new laptops, I can't even find the screenshot button I've also got several ad blockers running, so I didn't see the ad that tagged me. Maybe others will have better luck though
