Last week was a pretty normal storm for us, grand winds and all. This week is flooding....plus the Solstice tides. Ummm.. that's not good. Since Thursday we've been getting warned about possible severe flooding this weekend, and the weather's ignored all the storms leading up to today. In fact, the FLOODING wasn't supposed to be started until 4pm today so I took some photos of our 'preflooding'. The reason our summer field is a summer field only, and why I don't over winter any extra critters that can't possibly fit in the barns And in honor of the last Hobbit movie that just came out for us this week, here's a Misty mountain pic from today Everyone's as prepared as we can get, so here's hoping the flooding doesn't happen or that we have enough land to take the floods

*knock on wood! We're still here and it didn't rain last night ~ hurrahhh! From what I can see, the storms that were supposed to arrive after 4pm were in fact raining on us all of yesterday. They're still calling for rains today but with luck the rivers can hold it. Happy Solstice Dalesfans

Wow you definitely have some extreme weather where you are! I think everyone's looking forward to Christmas and new year but after that, winter really starts to become a drag I guess I can consider myself lucky that although our field is muddy and void of grass, at least it's not flooded! I love the misty mountain picture

I agree, winter can be so boring with the Sea of Mud, but it's like as soon as Christmas is over, we begin looking for the first crocus and daffodils Thankfully (very thankfully!) our fields have drained away and the rivers and creek have gone down. I think the rains stayed up in the clouds and ended up being heavy snows for someone else. I love the mists here, they really add to the beauty.
