This afternoon we had hopefuls for Santa's sleigh team come through! The hopefuls assemble: They show their takeoff techniques!!! Some show dazzling liftoff, even at close range. Others, not so much The hopefuls wait to hear the results! Some clearly have good form and become backup members in case the lead team take a tumble others? Ah, well, there's always next year

These are the Roosevelt elk that come through our farm daily "Great photo, Thanks so much. Our whole family had to come over and see it. The children thought they are in good shape for Santa's Sleigh tomorrow night." Awhhh from another forum where I posted a pic of the elk. I'm so glad to have been able to share the pics this year

Real Christmas photos and weather. Some parts of England have had sudden heavy snow - none yet for me, and I can't say I am sad! Must be getting old, I fear

They got the sleigh to our house very well this year as usual anyway!

You're right, elk are larger than deer and our Roosevelt subspecies is the largest of our elk in America. The adults are roughly the size of a horse, so they weigh 900-1200lbs. There's been many a morning I've thought I had extra horses in my field they get disgruntled at the idea of being saddled for trailrides though. Something about not wanting to work for their kibbles LOL.

At least this year there aren't nearly as many as we had last winter they still do damage to the fences, but at least this year I have enough grass left on the fields for my own horses and ponies. Last year there were so many, they ate the grass clean to the ground so I was stuck haying on top of fence repairs This year, it's better balanced. I still have a fence I need to patch, and other spots that need tightened daily as they can't seem to hop their butts properly over a dinky fence, but it's better than last year
