Yesterday Mollie went to Keysoe for her first unaffiliated dressage event under the totally capable hands of Gill Fullen who I am so lucky to have living nearby. Gill broke her in and has been keeping an eye on us since then. This spring I decided to let Gill get the little lady into proper shape (mentally and physically!) so has had two schooling and one jumping sessions with her. We thought she was ready to mix in public again as she does not like working with other horses near by so took her to Keysoe as a training exercise. She was pretty spooky initially working-in with four very large coloured cobs and did a fairly forgettable Intro B test (60%)! We then gave her 15 mins chilling-out time while we grabbed a hot drink before Gill got back on for a serious schooling session. This time, Mollie decided to relax (slightly!) and listen to her instructions. She then performed a really much improved Prelim 7 test which was her first ever canter test. She went easily and correctly into canter on both reins - big silent hurrahs from me who was videoing it. She got 65% for this test which we were both very pleased with. The judge's comments were nice and very accurate, so we went home chuffed and looking forward to getting her paces more fluent etc. I know that if I had been on board we would have been lucky to achieve 55%, but gives me something to aim for ! The photos were taken in the Intro Test, as the video is too long to download.

Wow, she looks so posh and focused in her pics! Reading about everything that went towards the goal reminds me of a ballet dancer. It looks effortless, but is far from being so. Kudos!

Well done! 60% isn't a shabby score at all.

Thanks for lovely comments. Yes, she is gorgeous and once she learns to behave better, I hope some of the judges agree with me!

Wow this looks amazing. She's beautiful! I'm doing prelim 4 on Sunday, mine and his first proper dressage test so a bit nervous! But we have to hack there so he should be quite warmed up and not too fresh. I hope we do as well as you, I'm not expecting a great score but it'll be fun and he's got a horse Easter egg to eat afterwards

Good luck Yanny. Sure he will behave as long as you do not get too excited and/or nervous!
