Last summer I bought a dales mare called Zara and I am looking for any information about her past or about her breeding. She is my first experience of Dales and I am totally smitten! She has definitely been a brood mare and may or may not have been ridden in the past. I had very little expectation and didn't even know if she was sound but I bought her anyway, to give her a permanent home. Anyway she has gone from strength to strength, riding out in groups, working in the school and popping small jumps. She has a fantastic character and the whole family love her!
I have her passport, which has not been updated since 2004. She was born in 2002. Her sire was Moorend Jock and dam Dartdale Dawn. She is grey and a section B. Does anyone have any information, or perhaps any of her foals? I would be really interested to know anything of her past..

Welcome to the delightful world of Dales ponies and Dalesfans!!! I have a niggling feeling I've seen or heard of your girl, but I can't remember anything solid. Hopefully some of the others will have stud books, and/or know the breeder and will be able to fill you in on her foalies. She sounds like a true friend Good on you for giving her a permanent home!

Don't know the pony, but did Zana (Y.Dales Trekking Centre) have Moorend Jock? I may be mistaken and hers is another Jock

Welcome to DFs. Can't say Ive heard of your mare and I have just had a quick look at the DPS grassroots site and can't see any progeny listed so if she has had foals then they haven't been registered through the Dales pony society. She certainly sounds like shes landed on her feet finding you.

Hello and welcome to dalesfans I don't know anything about her but looking up on the DPS pedigree website she is down as Moorend Jock's last foal (he was a prolific stallion). Full name Tendringdale Another Dawn bred by Mr Banks - which you obviously know from the passport. There are no foals registered as being bred by her but that doesn't mean she hasn't bred a foal, just not a registered Dales. Hopefully some one else on here will know more about her. Do keep in touch and tell us more about her. Sounds like she has fallen on her hoofs finding you.

Zana has Moorend Jack, Moorend Jock was his sire too.
She sounds fab, and sounds like she's landed on her hooves!

Thank you for your messages and thank you for the welcome. I am not particularly surprised that her foals have not been registered but it would have been nice to trace them. I will continue her education, carefully and slowly. In many ways she is bold but she lacks confidence when going out alone. Each week is better than the one before, she is definitely willing to listen and quick to learn. I really have high hopes for her

If you're on Facebook there are photos of your mares dam Dartdale Dawn (with her twin foals) on the Dales Pony Appreciation page :-)

Moorend Jock was a fabulous fellow, any of his I've known have been stellar all rounders!

Welcome to Dalesfans I don't know anything about your pony, you could try Jo Ashby, Sec. Dales Society. She sounds lovely, do you have any photos you could post? sounds like you're doing really well with her, glad she's got a nice home now.
