so I decided to make the most of the fabulous weather yesterday and move the ponies from their winter field to the summer paddock. This meant dismantling all the electrics and reassembling them in the bottom paddock, moving the ponies, worming them all and separating Dolly and Frankie from Lilly and Harvey. It took me from 10Am to 6PM with just a short break for lunch and no help at all. Strangely it all went smoothly and seemed less fraught than when I do have help - probably because I could take things as steady as I wanted. I expected a mad gallop when they went through to the new field but the gallop was over so quickly I didn't even have time to get my phone out of my pocket to take a video! The first thing Lilly and Dolly did was go straight to the muddy pond, have a drink in it, a splash and a roll: I'm shattered today but enjoyed having a full day with all my ponies!

Yes I think sometimes it's better to do things on your own at you're own pace, I love the pic of the bum in the air, let's hope summer really is on the way now, or at least spring, after a lovely day yesterday it's wet and cold here again today.
I can't move my ponies onto their summer paddocks as we still have no fencing up so it's open to the road after the trees were removed the first week in January. We were promised the new fence would be up in a few weeks but still waiting while they get endless quotes, that's the disadvantage of renting land you have no control over these matters.

Well done - I agree it can be less stressful to do a job on one's own.
My ponies are still in the paddock they have been in for months with twice daily hay. The fields have all been muckspread but not a lot of growth yet from the grass. I am hoping to see a sudden surge of green shoots this week now the nights are (slightly) warmer.
Cows are also all still inside, and I am awaiting calves - but the ladies are not in a hurry. Probably waiting to get outside for a charge about to start their contractions off!

Well done!!! It looks like the ponies are making the most of their new fields Our mushroom work is picking up, so despite the weather, I've turfed everyone out as well. They all have barns/field shelters they can get into if they want and Reigny and Dundee are still wearing blankets, but the others are naked and enjoying it. Roll on summer!
