Me and Cuba are doing dressage tomorrow in the next village, so I rode him to my aunty's who lives there where he's now on holiday for the next 2 nights, living in a lovely field with two pretty girl ponies for company So Mr. Callisto is ruling the roost and has the run of the entire field as well as all the Fallabella mares to himself! As you can see he was absolutely thrilled. Attachments:

Thanks everyone! I made a bit of a cock up by getting the A and C ends mixed up...so forgot to turn down the centre line then did it afterwards! He was really forward going (even though in the warm up arena he was quite lazy!) And sped through the test, the whole time riding into corners, outline and my position went out the window. All I could think of was slow down!!! We got 55% which I was happy with (50 was my goal!) and although he had some excitable rears bucks and jumps at first before warming up he did settle eventually and was so good in the warm up arena considering how busy it was. I'll be hacking him back home today so Cal will have his "Friend" back again!

Well done, I'd have been very happy with 55% for a first go, last year when I had entered Em for our first dressage test I used to get the A and C ends mixed up too, I would have been happy just to get through the test and for her to behave well. We never got there though as it was practising the test I came off her, and that put and end to riding for a few months.

Way to go!!!! Don't worry about getting them mixed up, I find it impressive you two went out there and simply went for it that's really the purpose, to find out where you are in your training and to build from that. I'm curious, what did Cal do with all that time and all those ladies to swoon? Was he a good lad and kept to his own field, or was he happy to see Cuba back?

Thanks so much for the lovely comments everyone! Debbie; Cal seemed over the moon to be by himself. He was so good; he just grazed near the ladies and had a little sniff of them, didn't try and escape once. When Cuba returned he just pulled moody faces at him and they had a little scrap over the hay (both had forgotten how to share it seemed!) Don't think Cal is very sociable with geldings, I guess because he was a stallion for a while. I think he tolerates Cuba but they never play and very rarely groom eachother or anything

Well done for going for it! It is the best way to learn, and do not be discouraged. I was lucky as I had Pony Club and then Riding Club to guide me through the early tests I did, but you still learn so much more by observing others and just riding a test under the scrutiny of a judge.
Do not be put off by a few low scores. I hope you and Cal do a lot more competing over the next few months, and slowly build up your marks.

How interesting about Cal, Blossom is very much the same way. She's not overly sociable, though she had her own everything for much of her life. She shares a field with Dundee who is submissive, thankfully. Bloss will share with him on rare occasions (like if she thinks I'm not looking), but I can tell she'd probably be happier in her very own paddock
