Hello. Does anyone know of any shows within an hours drive of Leeds? And do you need a green tweed jacket? Also how does the age bit work for the horses? Thank you. Maidendale Finality and Lummas Oscar (after some persuation) are off showing. Thank you

Otley? Usually the end of May, I think. There's the horsforth shows if u want very low key in Leeds as well.

Jackets should be tweed - brown, green or beige colours are the ones normally seen. I think traditionally they should have collars of the same material, but many have black velvet collars now. I managed to find one with a green velvet collar which more or less matches the tweed so it does not stand out too much.
Your query about bits and ponies ages - I think you meant to ask if older ponies can be shown in a snaffle bit? Again, traditionally older ponies are in a pelham or a double bridle, but I am sure a well mannered pony who goes correctly in a snaffle would not be marked down except at the highest level of shows (I may be wrong on that point!) Novice ponies can be shown in a simple snaffle bit.
Good luck with your ponies.

Otley is one of the bigger ones, not sure when entries close though? Other than that we do Homestead riding club at Monk Fryston (local but fun) and there's sometimes some at Mill Lane Selby
