Section A whole black colt, named FLYNN de Kingmaker. Sire - Coverdales Carnival King Dam - Akehurst Heather's Lass Born in the field at 6.30pm yesterday, just as we were fetching a head-collar to bring his mum into her foaling box for the night. Flynn is a full brother to the delightfully bonkers Dakota (born 2013), so if he has the same comedien traits, we have a fun-filled summer ahead This is Lass reaching round to nuzzle Flynn for the first time. He's just 3 minutes old in this photo and, at this point, we didn't know if he was a boy or a girl. I wonder if Lass could tell from the very first sniff?

I wanted to name him Flynn and may still get my way if we have any more colts this year, but it was Martin's choice this time. Flint shares his name with Martin's beloved Percheron mare who is getting on in years now. She's never had a foal of her own, so Little Flint will be a way to keep Big Flint's memory going for us ETA - I did get my way Martin has agreed that FLYNN suits him better than Flint, so he's had a slight name change

...They are running late this year. I have Lowhouses Fiona due tonight, but she's not showing any imminent signs, so I suspect she'll run late too.

Lovely photo. Hope he is as strong as he looks.
Sure most of the mares are holding on to their babies until the nights warm up a bit. Had another frost here in Bedfordshire last night so it is not surprising my ponies still have a lot of their winter fluff.

Lovely photo. Hope he is as strong as he looks Yes, he's a healthy, strong lad and it's a good job because it's been raining NON-STOP for the 40 hours since he was born Lass is an experienced mother and she likes her comfort, so she has the good sense to take her baby out of the foaling-box for a quick sprint round then brings him back inside for milk and long sleeps in the dry. Belle, on the other hand, the dam of Firestar, is a maiden and has her boy out virtually 24/7. He is a drowned-rat in comparison! Here's an outdoor photo of Flynn in the rain this morning, and a couple of indoor ones which show off his lovely plush fur. He's a gorgeous shade of blue-black at the moment, but yesterday we noticed that he has white hairs in his tail and stifles, so we have the "could he be blue roan" debate going on again.... ...and one of Belle and Firestar in the rain. He's now 2 1/2 weeks old - [/quote]

trust a Dales to be packing her own lunch ~ Belle's carrying a flower with her. Awwhh, I'm so glad Lass is an old hand at this and knows how to keep her little one warm and dry. Firestar looks sturdy enough to be out exploring in the rains, though and he'll probably be grand when the weather is pelting down for future eventing or trec type jaunts Maybe it's just the camera, but to me, it looks like Flint has white hairs peeking through on his forehead. It would be wonderful if he were blue roan, but I think he's a gorgeous foal no matter the colour ...editing to add safe delivery vibes for Fi
