The weather is beautiful here today so I decided to take Connie up the main road and over the railway bridge to get to the better riding (miles of lovely grassy tracks), the bridge is quite scary as there is a bend before and after it so vehicles can't see what's on the bridge until they're on top of it.
She hasn't been that way before and was so good, we got onto the tracks and had a wonderful ride, then came back via an old green lane which has a stream crossing at the end, I had no idea what she would do, Emerald and Briallen always used to jump it to avoid getting wet feet and I always used to have to get off and lead my old TB through. I needn't have worried, she just put her nose in the water then walked calmly through it. Also discovered she is rather partial to the cow parsley growing at the side of the lanes and tries to snack her way along just like Spud used to.
We had lots of trots but I didn't quite have the confidence to canter right next to the tall, thick hedges in case a bird flew out and she spooked, next time I will, I'm sure, as the ride gave me lots more confidence in her, we were both relaxed most of the time and I feel we are starting to trust each other a lot more now.
I'm still smiling after our lovely ride, she really is turning out to be super little horse.
