Aviva have a community fund competition running at the moment (closes 31 May) and the RDA Unicorn Centre are in the running for an award of up to £5,000 to fund a new horse. This is to enable one of the oldies to retire. Maidendale Grenadier is half Dales and was my son Chris' eventer, a job he loved and was very good at. He went to the Unicorn Centre some years ago as their dressage specialist and did well at the National Championships for a number of riders, including taking 2nd in the Freestyle Dressage to Music the last year he was there. He's now in his mid-20s and is not as active as he was, but the Centre needs another horse to fill his huge hooves! Winning this award would mean that the Centre could afford to buy another horse and Grens could start his well-deserved retirement. I'd be really grateful if you would register with Aviva and vote for the Unicorn Centre, the link is here: community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/Project/View/3304If you could share with anyone else, that would be fabulous. Thank you so much.

It is amazing the difference that the RDA can make to an otherwise wheelchair bound person and the motion of the pony beneath the rider can help the nerves in the rider's body to start to work.
I have personally seen the results in a young person with cerebral palsy who has begun to walk with a frame at the age of seven. There is something in the process of sitting on a pony that makes their muscles relax.
A very worthy cause.
