Local rc was doing its monthly mini ODE. Last year I did a few on Bex and enjoyed them, however she isn't fit so I wasn't going to do it. Lu sent a message and asked to do the 75cm on Rory. However when the times were published we were both in the 35cm= oops!! As times were sorted Lu decided she'd do the 35cm and I was not going to bother until a moment of madness the day before in our lesson. We jumped all of 6 tiny crosses and I decided that I'd provide some entertainment and take Patience She did her highest score dressage to date before we headed off to tackle the sj and xc. Did a warm up fence and went in. I laughed my way round the sj- it was tiny and she went straight over everything. Then it was the xc. First was the mini tyres and I could see her go "what on earth" so we stepped over. 2nd was a bale of straw which to be honest I thought we had no hope. 1st we stopped sniffed then 2nd attempt cleared it. We scrambled / stepped over most, jumped a few of the next ones until the carrot spread. Another I thought we had no hope for!! She stopped well out then gingerly approached. I stopped her stealing one before we stepped over. We then picked up some pace and flew the straw the opposite way. Very very pleased with her We finished 6th out of the seniors. And what was even better was 3 of the 6 placings in the seniors were dales ponies!

Well done, brilliant result at your first attempt! I had a chuckle at your description of sniffing the straw bale - I thought you were going to say she stopped to eat it. Lovely photo too

Well done, lovely photo, I've never heard of a carrot spread jump before, far too tempting.

I had visions of her stopping to eat half of the jumps. I would have completely lost Blossom on the straw and the carrot spread. I can just see it, "Oh, for me? You shouldn't have! " Good on you for trying it with her, and such a good girl to take everything on board like that. I love how they at least want to give it go once they understand the request. What a good girl Pait! And Kudos to all the DFs placings!!!

Well of course she can jump--she is GL's half sister and he is the world's most careful leaper-- as in tucked up, curled over and two feet clearance. Go Pait!
