It was my first ride in a fortnight as we've been away visiting my Dad. Harvey was clearly keen to be doing something again as he shot onto the trailer and off we went to Willingham Woods where we met up with Linda and Saturn for a lovely ride. We'd forgotten it is half term so the picnic area was heaving with parents and their kids and lots of dogs so the ponies got plenty of attention. Ben (my dog) enjoyed going round all the picnic tables in search of food! Harvey having a picnic while we waited for Linda to arrive: Harvey and Saturn having another picnic while their Mum's had a bite to eat: Finally we set off: Harvey was fascinated by the cows and calves the other side of the hedge! It was a glorious 7 mile ride through various woods. The greens of the trees and foliage were stunning. We had one slight mishap when we went slightly wrong and ended up having to ride over a boggy area. Saturn is nervous of boggy land ever since he got stuck in a bog many years ago. He was so worried he trapped LInda's knee against a tree trying to keep to dry ground! Then Harvey, who was happily striding out ahead, had a shock when his back legs both slipped into a deep hole as some ground gave way! He didn't panic at all, just quietly pulled himself back out and carried on, completely oblivious to my panic! He wasn't hurt at all - thank goodness for our ruffty-tuffty Dales Ponies. A TB would not have got off so lightly.

Lovely day for you both if a tad "exciting"

Glad you all survived the bog and ground giving way, what stars they are.

Well done for getting out, the ride looks amazing. Pleased ponies were good and sensible as usual.

Fabulous ride - congrats and I hope Linda did not get too sore a knee after having it 'treed' - could have been nasty. So glad both were sensible in the bog.
Wish I could find a local rider who was free at the same times as me! Mol is miles better at loading now, but I still like to have a second person about in case she decides to be a prat! So want to just be able to load her up on my own and go off for the odd couple of hours when I have some free time, instead of being constantly worried by traffic locally.

Such a shame we don't live a bit closer, I'd love to ride with you and Molly again, I also don't have anyone to ride with either at the moment as Amy is pregnant and not riding, my sensible friend's horse is in his 20's and intermittently lame and my not so sensible friend who tends to go like the clappers (I'd have to summons all my courage to ride with her these days) her horse is out of action due to a swollen hock.
Don't know of anywhere with good riding we could meet halfway but if you fancy another forest ride I'd be very pleased to meet you there.
