Some of you may know that, for one reason or another, I have ridden very little in the past several years. A few months ago, I got back on Su (Colliery Supreme, who hasn't been ridden for years) and we've been pottering about a bit, nothing dramatic, just a short hack two or three times a week. I haven't been on Kia (Maidendale KiaOrana) for well over a year, but on Friday I brought her in to ride. She hasn't been ridden for 2 months as my lovely groom has now left. For some reason, probably because me getting on her was so strange, she was right up on her toes and behaved like a prat. Anyway, we stayed in our little indoor school and just walked and trotted until she got back to her calm and sensible self. Today I brought her in again and rode. She was a good girl this time and looked after me, but we still stayed inside, it's barley time,so wagons, tractors and the combine are whizzing around (or were until the rain started). Riding two well schooled Dales ponies may not seem like much to write home about, but for me it's such a huge thing! My body is screaming in protest, my nerves are frayed, but my soul is singing!

Well done to you. Little rides whenever you can manage it, and your fitness and confidence will soon build up.

I think it's a big deal as well Maggie. Well done I need a big kick up the backside to get back to riding more regularly. Jac is getting fat and bored. You have shamed me into action Maggie xx

Great news Maggie, hope you continue to enjoy your riding. I came across an old picture the other day from camp at the James's of you on Su, I'll try and find it again
