Thanks everyone. I took Su out for what I thought would be an uplifting and pleasant ride round the 12 acre barley stubble in front of the house, finishing with a gentle canter back up the hill. Unfortunately, Su didn't have the same idea! She really didn't want to move at all, I ended up forcing every step out of her . By the time I got round the field, at reluctant walk with the maximum of 5 steps of trot at a time, I was completely lathered and drooping with exhaustion. Su stepped smartly into the yard and demanded her tea She made it clear that she thought she thoroughly deserved it and, if I'd had the strength, I'd have strangled her!

This must be an opinionated Dales girlie thing. Blossom can do a decent impression of a dead donkey on a leadrope if it's something she doesn't feel like doing exhausting! I hope the rest of your birthday was fun and uplifting though Happy Birthday Maggie!!!
