because we'll need it. Today is the Northern regional final for British Dressage Team Quest 2015. Our team which consisted of 3 Dales, a Fell, a Friesian and a coloured by some miracle finished 4th out of 56 teams and the top 15 teams get to go to today's final. Me and Harvey are going as is Karen with her Dales Biggerside Eloise and then Koen, the Friesian, and Woody, the coloured, make up the 4. I've been away on holiday so Harvey hadn't been ridden for 2 weeks until last Tuesday. Then he had a jumping session with Tanya Tuesday, a nice long, gentle hack with me Thursday and a Dressage Clinic yesterday where he spent much of the lesson spooking at jump stands. He did go nicely by the end but it took a lot of sweat and effort from both of us so heaven knows what will happen today. Still, our main objective is to have a good day out and lots of fun.

I've edited this because it posted twice for some reason, but that probably means I can't wait to know what happened!

Well, we all had a fantastic time. It was a wonderful, friendly show and great atmosphere, not at all like the usual BD dressage events. Lots of cheering, clapping and encouragement. Lovely to see so many hairies there too. There was one team of Fell Ponies but I think we were the only Dales. All 15 teams were there. We came 14th out of 15 which doesn't sound good but we were really pleased with how we all went. Harvey got the highest marks of our team - 67.5%, not bad for an old boy, especially as it was jolly hot and there were lots of scary pots of flowers around the arenas! Eloise, the other Dales, did a really lovely test and got the 2nd best score of 65%. I haven't seen the score sheets yet so don't know the judge's comments but I thought we all did very well, particularly as we started this all just for a bit of fun with no aspirations to get to the regional final. Harvey had a big audience watching in amazement at one point....but it was nothing to do with dressage. After our test I untacked him and gave him his usual watery, fast fibre meal. Then some one needed assistance with a horse so I went off to help without putting Harvey's head collar on. Harvey finished his feed and then went to his haynet and stood quietly by the trailer. When I looked round there was a crowd of people watching, not sure quite what to do. When they realised I was the owner, they came an said they had never seen such a well behaved pony! He is so used to being at shows and knows the routine so acted as though he was tied up, even though he wasn't. A few pics from the day taken by Karen's husband: Lovely shot of Harvey 3 of us working in: Eloise and Harvey The team - Ruth/Koen, Karen/Eloise, me/Harvey and Caroline (Woody was already untacked)

Super well done to you all. Really glad the BD people are beginning to realise the hairies can move and perform well. Love the story of Harvey showing the warmbloods how to behave - bet he knew perfectly well he was not tied up - and was smirking at everyone!
