On Tuesday I took Connie to Forest Edge Arena in Norfolk for a jumping clinic, she hadn't been ridden for 2 weeks as her saddle needed the flocking adjusting then I was away until Monday, but I needn't have worried she was her normal calm self.
We started with trotting poles and finished jumping a course of 7 jumps, only small cross poles but the most I've jumped for many years. I had a great time even though she put in a huge jump at one point and very nearly jumped me off, she is such a genuine little soul that when she felt me on her neck she stopped to let me get back in the saddle and sort myself out.
Now looking forward to the next one on 8th December, I have no desire to jump anything big but just want to give her some variety and enjoy doing different things with her now my confidence has improved.

Well done you and Connie to brave taking on a course of jumps. I am such a chicken when it comes to jumping, so am suitably impressed with brave folks who go for it. From what I've seen Dales are quite handy with jumps and do enjoy trying something new. Have fun!

Well done. Sounds like you and Connie are going to have a lot of fun together. I'm the same and like to give Harvey as much variety as possible. I'm planning on taking him to a Trek event in a couple of weeks, something neither of us has done before and also some "baby" jumping lessons.

I'd love to try trec but there is very little in our area, my jumping lesson was only baby jumps, my muscles are still aching, I suppose it's using different muscle groups. It has made my position more secure though, I noticed that this morning on a fast ride with my friend. The tracks are getting so muddy now it won't be long now until it will be mostly road work, not that Connie cares she just galloped through mud and puddles while Julia's Anglo Arab was dodging around the puddles, her tack was filthy when we got back though, looked like done a days hunting.LOL

Yes, the tracks round here are almost unridable now too. As for the jumping, I only do tiny ones and if Harvey feels he wants something more challenging, I let some one else take him. These days he's happy with little pops anyway. A new Trec group has just started up in our area so I'm looking forward to trying it out. They are running an In Hand obstacle class which we're going to have a go at. We always come bottom in Handy Pony classes so I don't hold out much hope for ridden obstacles.

Musk and I got a "steady neddy" rosette for our last handy pony - nothing to do with the obstacles - there were "monsters" in the trees beyond the paddock rails and he couldn't possibly step over a pole on the ground despite just having come out of a show jumping class

I love the idea of a 'steady neddie' rosette, well done Musk
