We did a ride in the forest yesterday, I nearly didn't go as it was so windy but glad I did as it was lovely to get away from all the mud. The the going on the tracks was perfect and there was some shelter in the forest but it was still very gusty when coming out of the trees, there is a lot of open bits in this part of the Kings forest.
It was our first ride on our own and Connie was super, in fact she was better on her own and just settled into a fabulous ground covering trot and then canter, I can imagine covering much higher distances with her in the future with that effortless trot.
Only 7.5 miles but lovely.

Wonderful. You're braver than me risking the wind yesterday. Me and sheila cancelled our ride as it was early wild here although it did calm down in the afternoon. Lovely to hear you are having such fun.

Definately a keeper Musk was not in the slightest affected by the wind on Sunday - we had our usual argument about turning right not left (dead end ?!?) at the end of the lane but that was it. James was like a thing let loose on Saturday (also windy) - I asked for trot and we did pogoing - he had calmed down a bit when there was a bright light in the sky followed by a lound BANG (birdscarer? firework? mortar shell?)that sent him careering sideways up the road. I took the coward's way out and went the long way round as I foresee myself sitting in a damp cultivated field.............he didn't calm down until we got to the end of our drive Now I know why I went for a registered Dales the second time LOL (He (James)makes me laugh so much!)

Glad you got back in one piece Mandy, neither of mine seem to mind the wind or rain at all, are you sure it's James that's the old boy? Musk sounds much more sensible.
On Thursday I rode Em out with Sam on Connie and we met 3 Lusitano's from the local stud, Em showed little interest and carried on in a calm and sensible walk, Connie, however, the sensible babysitter, got very excited by the sight of them and pranced and bounced along the lane with her neck arched and back end right underneath her, intermittently snaking her neck and twirling it round in circles, saying look at me, look at me. Em completely ignored her antics.
