As Andrea mentioned Musk is quite old for his age. During a very windy day we came across the landowner of the gallops near us (he was repairing divet holes with the aid of a garden fork! it's only as wide as a dual carriage way and a mile round....) Musk being Musk stopped for a chat and then when asked to walk on, parked Michael then said "You want to take him hunting that'll pep him up!" I said actually, no the idea of careering round the roads on an unshod pony didn't particularly appeal. So we have been invited to the children's meet which involves an hour hooning around the gallops before they set out (and I go home). He is being clipped again on Sunday in preparation - not sure what I need to do for me - Stubbens on the saddle so I stick and new gloves I think. It must be said I wouldn't even contemplate this with James - even now

That does sound like fun, hope you both have a great time, when is it happening? looking forward to hearing how you got on. I'm intrigued by the Stubbens on the saddle to make you stick though

Monday after Christmas, hopefully it'll dry out a bit as there are a couple of areas where the going can only be described as heavy Re Stubbens - I find when I clean the saddle with the leather care that the saddler recommended, if I don't polish it up the saddle is really grippy. So when I think Musk might get exciteable - I clean my saddle I do clean it on other occasions too.....

I wish I'd been able to try hunting when I was younger (and crazier! LOL) Best of luck sticking with Musk, and I hope you both have a fun time

The going is too wet so they have postponed the meet until at least Tuesday and then it will depend on there being no rain beforehand. Unfortunately I have to go to work ? Musk had a haircut especially too....

Oh no! Sod's law! There are a lot of bugs going around at the moment..........
I'm getting Harvey clipped on Friday for a New Year fun ride on the Sunday even though I am pretty sure it will be cancelled due to the wet going.

Oh that's bad luck, as Pam said there's a lot of illness going round at the moment, I've had the odd sickie in the past to go hunting, just don't fall off and end up in hospital or you'll get found out.

Unfortunately I'm disgustingly healthy:S It also rained here yesterday so it'll probably be postponed indefinitely. Musk was full of beans today so he didn't need pepping up. I think he was bored as he decided to go a different way round the tracks today. I went along with it and we had a lovely time on our alternative route which included much splashing in a huge puddle . Given that Norfolk is supposedly the driest county in the UK I feel for the rest of the country.

Musky sounds just like Harvey who loves exploring new routes and is a completely different pony to the one who plods round the local block in slow motion. When I'm out with friends we often let Harvey choose the route for a bit of fun and it's amazing the ways he takes us! Sometimes, when we are almost back at the start, he will take off in a different direction to do another circuit.

Is that a Dales pony thing?? I'm forever steering Sammie away from people's driveways etc cos he's decided he fancies checking them out!

Spud used to want to go up peoples driveways particularly if there was someone in the garden, he used to like saying hello to anyone who would give him a pat and admire his beautiful long mane and feathers, which made a lot of our rides very slow as it seemed not many people could resist him. He was incredibly nosy and would often trip up while walking along shaped like a banana trying to see up someones drive.
Connie definitely has very strong opinions about which is the best route to take whilst out hacking and also on pleasure rides, she always thinks her way is best.
