When I groomed Emerald last night in preparation for a ride this morning I was amazed to see she was starting to shed her coat. She is very wooly this year and has been sweating in this warm weather so I gave her a bib and belly clip on Monday and I guess she decided it wasn't enough.
She has never liked being clipped and was almost impossible to take any more than the tiniest bit of hair off, it didn't seem to be the noise or the vibration she objected to but the feeling of the clippers actually taking the hair off.
I think I've mentioned before that she is much less reactive since her gut has been treated, well after putting the clippers on her turned off and then turned on with no reaction I started clipping her and after about 30 seconds of fidgeting she just stood like an angel eating her hay net and resting a foot.

YES!!! Rita's done an insane amount of shedding already. She loves to be 'first' but shedding out the second week of December is insane [/IMG] what's the point of sweatin' in your winter woolies if you won't hang onto them for the Winter? Blossom is right behind Rita with the shedding out too! Crazy ponies. Last year, they shed out Winter, then Summer, then Winter coats again before Dundee and Reigny even considered loosing theirs. Thankfully those two only shed out the once not a clue what Rita and Blossom were doing, other than competing with one another. I was spitting out red (Rita's a lineback red dun ~ clearly NOT a Dales!) and black fur for months. ....editing to add, that's BRILLIANT news about Emerald taking the clipping so well!!!! what a massive difference!

No, although Musk has been clipped so is probably thinking that he should hang on to what's left!
James has PPID so just about loses one winter coat before the next winter coat grows.....
