Happy New Year!
Apologies for another photo-less update!
Amba is continuing to progress and we are very pleased with her. I am hacking her out every other day and she is beginning to become a real joy to ride. Her sharpness off the leg has got so much better, so I feel better not having to nag with my legs, and as a result my lower leg position is better! Her turn on forehands are lovely and I plan to trial a couple of steps of leg yield next week-wish her luck!!. We have been playing water sports!- She likes water, but is not so forthcoming to walk through puddles, so she has got much better and we have been having great fun trotting through puddles, having fun. I've started riding her up banks and last week we found a steep-ish one beside the church and decided to climb it and found a large grassy area beyond which she really enjoyed exploring-she felt very fresh!
Her nervousness with large/noisy traffic is a bit up and down, but at least there are (mostly) plenty of places to pull into to allow them to pass, and sometimes she doesn't seem to bother. Unfortunately, New Years Eve, a pick up came hurtling towards us and I signalled to driver to slow down please, but he took offence, stuck his fingers up at me and deliberately wheel span, revving very loudly beside Amba and I in a deep puddle!!!. Totally bonkers!!. Bless her, she didn't bat an eyelid and we smuggly continued on (much to their disappointment). What a star and a good reason for the puddle training to continue I think!.
I felt very disappointed that there are such idiotic people out there, he was showing off to his passenger probably, but even so...
I was soon cheered up when later that day, a local gardener appeared with a bottle of bubbly in return for the 6 bags of Cally's stable manure that I had prepared for him- Great!.
Amba has two days off now as we are playing with fences tomorrow and Monday, M is busy.
Off to do evening stables now!

What a lovely update. It sounds like Amba is going to be fully traffic proof very soon with the careful approach you are taking. Wishing you lots of fun with her throughout the year.

Sounds like you're doing really well with her, I am also bringing my pony Emerald back into work after over a year off, she also is not 100% in traffic especially large vehicles, but is slowly getting better.
I have also had an idiot driver rev up and tear past me on Connie recently when I asked him to stop while she was messing about because she was frightened of some killer sheep. He shouted through his open window "you shouldn't be on the road you silly cow" fortunately Connie is 100% in traffic but that's not the point.
I hope you continue to have fun with her this year

How horrible to be spoken to like that, it can turn a cheerful hack into a miserable one. Luckily for every nasty person there are 100 lovely ones to make up for it!.
