Given the atrocious weather we have been having I hope that everyone is safe and they have had no damage to property or ponies. George is stabled on the top of a Welsh mountain and although that means the rain runs off it quickly the ground here is sodden. So much so that for the first time in 18 years my yard owner has nothing turned out at all. We have a couple of ponies sharing large pens due to overcrowding and the 2 broodmares have gone into an area in the cattle barn next door but it beats standing in inches of waterlogged ground. We have the luxury of an indoor school where they all go out in pairs for a play each day and the small paddock is ok for the 2 yearlings to go out in some days so at least they all get a good leg stretch and chance to roll and play. Georges buddy is the winner of the HOYS 15h SHP class and I am told they are a pair of loons when they play but George is well mannered and doesn't attempt to kick Manny which is why he has been chosen The lanes around the stables are flooded in places but thankfully no damage to anyone's property. Hope you are all safe and sound and managing ok.

We are also very wet with mud and standing water in the paddocks, I am still putting my ponies out during the day but limit them to a few hours if it is raining hard to try to minimise the damage to the paddocks and also don't like them standing in water all day.
Our bridle paths are getting to the point where a lot are getting unusable, we still have some dryish ones but invariably the tracks leading to the ones where the going is still OK are deep in mud which spoils the ride.
But at least we don't have floods, I really feel for the poor people who have had their homes and property flooded.

Mine have been going bonkers from being inside, but all in all it's been a pretty normal winter for us. I've seen the photos and vids and hope those in the really scary floody areas are keeping safe and sensible. Hang in there and don't forget your floaties
