I finally bit the bullet and had front shoes put on Musk for the first time yesterday.
I was apprehensive as he usually objects to everything and then accepts it if it doesn't hurt so I was concerned about the combination of hot metal and flapping pony feet.
I needn't have worried as he just stood there as if he'd had it done loads of times! A big up to James Blake at Breckland Farriers who has contended with Musk since he was 7mths old - he's now nearly 8yrs
It was funny to watch him process the fact that his front feet had metal nailed to them and he was perfectly behaved all the way up the lane to his paddock which is not usual.
This morning when I took him out he was very circumspect but popping over a pole that was at most 10" off the floor took a great deal of persuasion so that will be daily practice until it becomes fluent again.
