Today's been the first mostly clear day for me to put Bloss and Dundee on their field for some playtime. Tonight when I went to fetch them in, they hovered at the farthest point away from the gate. As if on their own opening of the gates, the race was on! Both sprung from the other end and came barrelling across. Dundee's actually a fox trotter, and built like a giraffe with uber long legs. Some days he acts like he lets Blossom win just to humor her. Well, tonight they were about 1/3 the way across and I could see on Dundee's face he thought he really would beat her to the gate. I could see it even from that distance, Blossom gave a smirk and then she just sunk towards the ground and hit that next gear and she was gone! LOL Dundee's expression was and he tried his heart out to catch up, but she pulled away at least by 6 lengths by the time they reached me. Poor Dundee didn't want to talk about it, his younger male ego is totally bruised. Sorry Dundee, Blossom's just that much faster, even at 13.1 gotta love a Dales pony!

Yes it's really amazing how fast they are when they find that extra gear, I love the way they lower their body and drop, feels amazing when your on top.
Emerald's also got a great turn of speed from a stand still, she goes from grazing to warp 9 in a fraction of a second, faster off the mark than Connie.
