Rory's sicknote has finally expired!

I got back on Rory today. First ride on him in months and he managed to actually behave himself. Em arrived just as I was tacking up so very kindly offered to walk out with me. Just did a short walk through the village but did have a little trot when he got on his toes at the cyclists, bunting and flowers on the main street (Tour de Yorkshire went through the village and bunting, flags etc are still up).


Then the shock of being ridden hit when back in the field, that or he thought he'd best made sure I have to try and brush him the next time I ride.

What's been wrong him? he looks good in the photo, also looks like you've still got mud, our ground is like concrete now and turning to dust, never happy are we but we seemed to have only a week of good going between the hock deep mud and the rock hard ground.

He had to have a very rotten tooth out which has been missed by our old dentist for a long time. Poor boy ended up referred to a specialist for it taking out and it took a hole in his cheek, a hammer, a drill and 2.5 hours to finally get it all out. Then he had a couple of infections and bone splinters making their way out so has been out of action for a few months.

For those who remember my Becky and her foal pics, the youngster stood behind Rory watching is Belle who isn'tsuch a baby anymore!

Poor Rory!!! Cripes that's a lotta dental works so very pleased he's been sorted and clearly is happy to be back in work ....err... well umm.. as happy as a Dales gets with the concept of work

I came across a photo of a Rory Mac as a foal when I was sorting out some stuff last week - is he 10ish?

Yes he is either 9 or 10- not seen any pics of him as a foal, I think he was 4 when we got him

Yes hes 10 this year. He was a 3 turning 4 year old when we got him. Would love to see the foal pic if you could scan it.
