Our first since a week before our accident 2 1/2years ago, I was a little nervous but the ride with Mandy the week before had made me feel easier about it, even so I hardly slept on Saturday night.
It was raining heavily first thing so I had to load her still wet but by the time we arrived the sun was coming out, she loaded and travelled well hardly lifting her nose out of her hay net and stood quietly on the box whilst I went to register. She did move around a bit whilst I tried to tack up but eventually we were ready.
We set off and she was just so relaxed walking out nicely on a loose rein behind my friends cob Ronnie and she stayed like that pretty much the whole 10 miles, she only got a little strong twice on the way home and even that was nothing to how strong Connie gets, we had loads of long trots and a few short canters, past pigs, and men with bows and arrows (local archery club I think), half way round she was used to Ronnie enough to ride side by side, she didn't really go in front as Ronnie tries to race if he hasn't got his nose in front. She was a little tense with horses passing her, she didn't mind the other horses being in front and then trotting or cantering off, she never tried to follow once, it was just when they were actually passing she got tense.
I was so proud of her we had a lovely relaxed easy ride, I have to say more relaxing than Connie who gets really quite cross if I don't let her go as fast as she would like.
We are doing another one on 23rd Oct and have a Dales ride on the 30th, can't wait!
