I just thought I would let you all know I have had some good news, the steroid injection into Sonny's tendon seems to have worked and the vet was really pleased with his progress. He isn't completely sound but she couldn't believe how much he has improved from where he was 4/5 weeks ago. This means I don't yet have to make that awful decision whether I had him operated on or not. I understand steroids are just a temporary fix and they don't really know how long the effects will last for but for the moment it's the best news I could have hoped for. She did say if I fancied riding I could probably do a little bit but I think I will just give him the winter off and see how he is in spring.
I cannot say how relieved I feel, I managed to hold it together until the vet went but then I did have a little cry! Thank you for the support, Pam and Gill (via email) in particular.

That's great news. At the very least buys you some time before making a decision about the op and maybe, the steroid injection followed by a winter's rest will do the trick. Fingers crossed.

What a HUGE relief!!!! I'm so glad you'll get Winter to see how he does and if you can do the slower repair route for him lovely to see you've gotten extra time with the pressure off.
