Over the last 2 weeks Em and I have had some lovely rides, an ADR pleasure ride 2 weekends ago in the forest where we met lots of dog walkers, cyclists, trials bikes and on the way back a loose horse at full gallop, she was so good, didn't bat an eyelid at any of it. An area 9 Dales ride in a different part of the forest with Mandy and 2 others, thanks Mandy for organising, again she was very good as were all the ponies, it was her first ride in a group and we had lots of lovely canters including one where she insisted in stopping for a poo just as the 2 front ponies set off, she then went like a bat out of hell to catch them up. I've never gone as fast on her before and was a little worried but she stopped OK when she caught up.
I've also had some lovely rides at home in lovely autumn sunshine and have been going out on her on our own for around 2 hours on rides we've not done on our own before, we've both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves cantering along the headlands, she's had a few green moments when she's had to stop at look at things in big open spaces but generally she's been brilliant. She's also met a lot of beet lorries, harvesters and tractors and been very good with them all.
My lovely girl has finally grown up.

That's brilliant! Had to laugh at the flat out gallop to catch up after a poo - Harvey does exactly the same.

It's truly lovely to hear how much fun you and Emerald are FINALLY getting to have!!!! you've both been through the wringer so many times, and I know many people would have thrown in the towel on her before. I'm so glad you've stuck it out and you're finally getting to have some very fun rides with Emerald

Well done the two of you! JEthro is a great one for having a poo - he recently had six in a one hour lesson in the school. Before each one he was difficult to move forward, as if distracted by the need to evacuate, and then went forward again with a lighter step...I haven't been brave enough to take him on a pleasure ride yet, but we have begun going out on hacks alone. He has been good, apart from occasional napping at an overgrown hedge row.

I thought you meant that I'd behaved well until I read it the second time, especially since I picked the wrong camping stove up and had to scrounge a cup of tea from Carolyn! I was intending to make tea/coffee for everyone else Musk was behind Em when she stopped for a pooh and when she shot off the was a pause, while he considered matters, and then he decided to give chase. He's been so much better at keeping up since we went "Up North" for the centenary ride Em wasn't properly dressed for jumping but Musk, Burnie and Charlie all had a go at the XC. I was behind Charlie and could see how he was leaping over the jumps, Musk was going forward at the back and jumped tractor tyres without a lead in It's so nice to have a pony that doesn't deposit you in front of or after the jump, or twist in mid-air, or buck on landing mentioning no names........JAMES! We almost came to a sticky end when Carolyn yelled "Drop!", I think Burnie thought she meant stop and Charlie and Musk, who weren't a sensible distance behind, barely missed knocking him into the drop but it all ended well. Thanks to Andrea, Lindsay and Carolyn for making a lovely day

If Mollie and I had made it, we would have definitely added to the excitement. We hardly ever hack out with anyone else so she gets a bit o.t.t. when she does. I think I will have to investigate some herbal calmer for her! Sounds as though you all had a great time.
