An update on our gang

I know I dont post much and am guilty of posting on facebook so I thought I'd do an update on here... where my herd began I guess as when I first joined we had 1 horse.. Mickey! Now there are 8.
Some will remember Yeti- the welshy type who would jump the stable door, drop me at every show when he took a dislike to a certain jump, taught me to sit tight out hacking due to monsters... I actually still own him but he has been out on long term loan now for over 8 years. His loaner loves him and they do some hunting.
Becky- my chestnut sports horse- is still with us, age 23. Took her jumping today and we had fun despite her tantrums at having to leave Rory She fractured her splint bone last October and was out of work for months so I'm lucky to have her back.
I also stll have Belle- her 3 year old daughter. She's settling down and isn't quite the brat she was as a foal thankfully. I've sat on her once but not done any actual riding. Plenty of time for that.
Duke is still with us, the foal I got from the fell sales. He's now 5, he went to Nic last year to be broken in and I then turned him away again as he had another growth spurt. He has moved up to the yard and is now a grown up pony, clipped yesterday and doing lessons. I dont need gym membership right now
Evie has been with us nearly 18 months, she's the bay dales mare that I havent posted much about. She's a 10 year old rescue who is a companion that I'd like to eetually back. If I ever catch her again as she's lost her headcollar!
Lu still has Rory, who is still a challenging pony but hopefully is getting somewhere now he's had a tooth removed and on a supplement that seems to help. And she also still has Patience who has been my main ride, she's now in foal and is turned away as I can't get a saddle to fit hence Duke being at the yard!

Lovely to read this update. I remember Mickey well! I had only just got Harvey when I first "met" you and Mickey and am still riding him - in fact he very nearly bucked me off at our Dales Autumn presidents ride last week!

Crikey I think I forget how long I've been on here! I think I was in 1st year at uni when I joined, I've been qualified 8.5 years nearly now and it took 6 years to qualify. I hadn't realised you'd just got Harvey as it feels like you and Harvey have always been together.

Lovely to hear your news, Gosh I can't believe Becky also fractured her splint bone, that's a total of 3 ponies/horses belonging to members of what is a very small group to do this in the last 2 years. First Caroline's Pip, then shortly afterwards my Emerald, both 2 years ago, and now Becky, I find that incredible.

Did Becky have to have an operation? I believe Pip did and Emerald had a 7cm piece of bone removed but is completely sound now, all she has to show for it is a thin line of white hairs in summer where the scare is, it disappears under all the hair in winter. How did Becky break hers? Em got kicked in the field whilst away for schooling after I had the accident and she had a total of 15 months off, only 3 because of the leg though, the rest due to her gut.

Lovely to see all your Herd; I don't know how you manage so many

It does seem strange that so many of our ponies / Horses have had broken splint bones.
Pip did have an operation to remove the fractured pieces of bone and he came back completely sound after the operation. He's pushing 18 years old now and I (deep breath!) "hope" to bring him to the Performance show next year. I'm sure he's getting sillier as he gets older but then so am I

Pait is in foal to Highclose maverick so a bay We were keen not to go down the roan line as there aren't many that just have the roan from Kilmond Jean. A bay will give us a bay, black, blue roan or a bay roan.
Becky wasn't operated on- she's 23 and after discussion with the local horsepital vet they decided on bandaging and box rest as the fracture was stable.

I had forgotten Talya- bought her so I had something to ride whilst Bex was on mat leave. She now has a sharer who loves her.

Caroline- would be great to see you back at the performance show. We need all the old DF's for a good laugh there again
