Blossom's been early some years, but even this year seemed more silly than usual, especially considering this is the coldest year we've had so far. We've even had snow this year! She's just now shedding in earnest, and so is Dundee and Reigny and Rita. How about yours? Are they still holding onto their fluffies or are you spitting pony fur?

Gosh that's early. Mine are always much later although Frankie has started a bit.

The saddle fitter who came in late January commented that Pip was the first horse/pony she'd seen shedding. It's still very cold here so I have no idea why it's happening. He is rugged because he is clipped so perhaps I should move to a lighter weight rug?

Connie started to shed in early January and is now shedding in ernest, Emerald has also now joined her in the last couple of weeks. It is surprising as it has been colder here than it's been for quite a few years and as it's been drier they have stayed out all winter this year so have more reason to hang onto their winter woolies

It's crazy, right? The coldest weather yet, and still, it's the earliest shed. Blossom and Rita have had competitions each year to see who would shed first, and they don't even share the same barn! Rita's some version of a grade pony, though and they really bounce off one another. Dundee is typically a middle ground, and Reigny has the thinnest coat and usually hangs onto her winter woolies for the longest time possible. It was either last year or year before last, they did something insane like shed winter woolies, promptly shed summer woolies, regrow winter woolies, shed again I was exhausted by the time they all got shed for summer that year!

I groomed Sprout yesterday and could have made another pony with the hair

Mini-Me Scout! Now that would be cute I know what you mean about the fur, though. It gets frightfully high. Oddly enough I'm picking Dundee's fur out of everything at the moment. I'm looking at my computer and there's yet another of his hair's wedged in the hinge
