Thought I'd put this on here for anyone not on facebook. Patience decided to kindly foal last wednesday night- I'd done a mad day at work and was looking forward to bed... wrong! The CCTV battery failed about midnight so up I got, didn't bother getting Lu as whilst she'd looked very close at tea she's settled a lot by 9.30pm and had Lu had kept her eye on the cameras until it went down. o I didnt rush. I will admit to getting a shock as I walked over in the dark with a new battery to find a nose and a front leg appearing. Foal arrived safely and I rang Lu who begged a lift of mum. Foal then took hours to suckle and Pait decided she'd retain the placenta as well  Vet ended up sorting the placenta and foal had an IGG test which came back fine. Thank goodness thursday is my day off! Both are doing fine www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10155232628680891&set=a.10155229828935891.1073741842.665875890&type=3&theater

Emmmmm....can you sort the pics over here pleaaaase? I've seen your little man, but it's so much easier to post and see pics over here than dready FB leave it to Pait and babe to keep you on your toes for much of the night. Hey, what's a little sleep deprivation when you're getting one of your favorite ponies through mummyhood, right?

Shes being an absolutely amazing mum. I was worried about how she'd be with him feeding as shes always been quick with her back legs around other horses but shes stands like a rock for him even when he was being a very dense newborn. The apron strings have slightly relaxed and she will leave him asleep while she grazes and auntie evie is allowed to babysit occassionally.

Awwhh so glad to hear she's standing rock solid for him. I know what you mean, it's always a matter of holding your breath and hoping the maternal instincts kick in rather than the pony. the joys of having a babysitter! So pleased Pait is enjoying being a mummy she and Maverick have a lovely foalie!
