It is just about a year since I last posted (it just seemed as though no one was on here anymore) and a lot has happened since then. We have moved to Lincolnshire and love it here, we are just getting the last work done on the property, a hard standing yard and shelter for the ponies and a new driveway, also having field drains put in after this awful winter. We are also purchasing an extra 2 acres next door which should complete this week and then have to seed and fence, so still so sign of getting the ponies off the mud just yet.
We came here with the 2 ponies Emerald and Connie and have now added another one Roandale Pippa, Emerald still has ongoing issues with her gut, sweet itch and developed COPD just before we moved last year and although I had some lovely rides on her and did some PR's with Pam, Alli, Shiela and Sue she has gone down hill since January and so is more or less retired. I have had 3 lovely years riding Connie and have enjoyed her forwardness and quirky ways but in the last 9 months or so I have found I want to slow down and Connie really doesn't want to slow down, so after much debate I decided I needed something more laid back and steady. Shame about Emeralds health as she fits the bill most of the time.
Quite by chance I came across Pippa who was with Zana Jackson being prepared for sale, she had been backed at 3 and sold to a lady in Devon who turned her away intending to ride her the following spring and then put her in foal, neither happened and she was a field companion for 4 years before she sent her back to Zana for 6 weeks training and to sell.
I went to see her when she had been there just 2 weeks and instantly felt safe on her, Zana thought we were a good match so continued her training with me in mind. 3 weeks later I spent 2 days in Malham riding her including up on the moors and paddling in the tarn before bringing her home. She has been here 5 weeks now and is delightful. My neighbour is now riding Connie and getting on well with her, she did go for a trail at Riseholme college to see if she was suitable to go on loan there, but despite initial reports of what a lovely ride she was for the instructors, after 10 days I was asked to bring her home as they felt she was too sensitive for the students (she wont tolerate harsh aids). I'm quite pleased to have her back, I missed her whilst she was away.
I hope you are well, it feels good to be back on here.
