Pam, we are on medium wet , clay too, we should have done more over the summer really, it was quite wet by the time we laid them. I had some hard-core driveways laid into the field and hard-core bases for the shelters, being tight I decided to lay the slabs straight onto the levelled ground, now wish I had laid more hard-core firstπ then the tractor brought the bale in, and made quite a dint , if I'd have prepared the ground better it wouldn't have done that I guess.
I'll keep you updated π

That's interesting, Alison. In the blurb it says you can lay the mats fine straight onto the ground, even if it's not 100% level which is what made me think they would be better than the bigger grass mats. I would need to drive the quad bike over them daily and the tractor just a few times a year. So it sounds like putting hard core down first would be better and then the mats on top. I'll get some photos of my current system which is hardcore with grass mats on top and that has lasted well but I only have a very small area done due to costs.

I think it will be okay with the quad bike and trailer, I'm planning on running mine over it. My brothers tractor is very large π
My other yard area is hard-core, and I have some normal stable mats outside the stables, that's been down a couple of years now and have only just shifted slightly
I also bought a few grass mats, rubber with holes in, I don't think they'll stand up to the ponies on them, so I've made a pathway across the grass from our driveway to the stables for me to walk on x

Wow, that yard area looks brilliant! Sorry to hear about the dip created from the weight of the tractor. I suppose if you needed, could you remove the dipped down sections and reinforce that area with the hardcore? Sometimes you just have to try something, and then make the changes to it as you go along. There's just no way to know until you've got it in the real world, being abused by real ponies So pleased to hear Fashion's off the drip! I so hope she'll gather her strength and get to come home soon

Ah, Andy's tractor isn't that large - it's an old Massey 65 so maybe it will be fine.
How's Fashion getting on?

Still at the vets, they said today she has to stay over the weekend. Back on the drip today as a bit dehydrated again π can't come home as she is still on intravenous anti inflammatories
Was quite perky last night when i went and more her normal self, but started drooping again after half an hour
Liver profile that was sent to liphook came back okay, so that's good
Think vets are a bit stumped, seems like it's an infection or virus

Poor Fashion, I'm so glad they've put her back on the drip. I hope she recovers quickly and fully from this really pleased her liver panel came back good, though. That's a very good thing to hear it's not compromised.

Thanks for the good wishes, just been over to see her and they have agreed she can come home on Sunday, I think she will come on better at home, she doesn't look stressed being there, but I can see she is. They are changing her from intravenous anti inflammatories onto Bute over the weekend in preparation

That's excellent news! I'm sure she will recover quicker at home than in hospital, just like us humans. It is always better to be in familiar surroundings if possible.
As for showing stress, you know your pony better than anyone. Harvey never showed his stress outwardly. He would go quiet and "into" himself where as Eve lets you know exactly what she feels all the time. Fingres crossed you have Fashion home Sunday.

Pam, yes she's home, travelled well, in stable now munching away. I have a poo and water register, just to make sure she is keeping it all moving π I have 2 carrier bags of tablets, powders etc, she wouldnt eat them in her feed at the vets, but it was calm and condition and she really didn't like it π, will try with some soaked grass nuts today. Huge sigh of relief xxx
