Blossom begins her winter coat sheds near Dec 31st. Always has,and I've no idea why as she's lived out in some very brutal weather conditions. Last year she and Rita shed their coats something like 4 times I was drowning in yak fur from the both of them! I'm so grateful I'm down to Blossom this year, but I have dark pony fur ~ everwhere!!! I can only hope she'll only do one shed out to a Spring coat and stay there

Goodness, she starts her shedding early! None of my 3 have shown any signs of shedding yet. They usually shed a tiny bit in January but haven't done so this year. They don't do a proper shed until April or even May sometimes!

I’ve always noticed a little bit of shedding just after Christmas. It was always much more noticable in Old Sam with his Cushings though.
I think the start of it is dictated by day length, rather than just temperatures. With the shortest day about the 21st Dec, I used to think the moult was Old Sam’s Christmas present to me!

I knew it. Blossom's starting to shed out her summer coat and regrow a winter coat again since it's been so bracing these last three weeks .....sigh! Child if you would simply hang onto your coat to begin with, we wouldn't go through this.
