A stunning picture no doubt, but I really hope horse and others taking part in the festival were completely unharmed! I'm never sure what to make about things like this, as someone who is not religious in the slightest I do find it rather distressing that this practice is part of a religious festival in spain although I do not know what precautions are taken to protect the animals involved. However I have no problem with for example, the met police display riding through hoops on fire which burn at a low temperature and safety precautions are adhered to very strictly and the horses are happy and comfortable with what they are asked to do. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/7195663.stmAfter finding this on the bbc I searched more info on google and found these pics too. www.viewimages.com/Search.aspx?mid=73016171&epmid=1&partner=Google

It makes a very dramatic picture but I don't think it should be done, looks like it could be very dangerous

Surely there's some trick to it, though? I can't imagine they'd be riding their prized horses through a bonfire unless they were sure both they and the horse were going to be okay.
Dramatic pictures, and not something I'd care to do, but that second pic, the horse doesn't look fazed at all.

This is Spain though... hate to say this but i dont think they are quite as animal loving as us.... mum lives there and the few stables i have visited have not alway been what we would like to see in this country. please dont get me wrong i am not say all the spanish are cruel, just that some are maybe not as caring, but maybe judgine by the news, neither are the british!

Not sure what to make of it either as the horse in the 2nd pic doesnt look bothered- in fact Yeti does a better attempt at being scared by a blowing leaf. The 2nd pic also looks like he's riding behind the fire if you look at the horses legs.

Mmm, I find those pics quite upsetting. I'm sure there must be trick to it but it could encourage idiots to try something similar out.
