The ponies' winter field is barbed wire over stock fencing and during Saturn's first winter he managed to razor off most of his beautiful long forelock and much of his mane . This year he has a rug with neck cover; well it was put on new at the start of winter and is now ripped to tatters at the front and the rear end isn't much better! He is also razoring off his forelock again , just a few long bits left! Think a job for next year is to replace the barbed wire ........

My friend would agree with you on that as her horse manages to rip the front of his rugs to shreds on the barbed wire......So now we have electric fencing,with no power as luckily he is scared of it,protecting these areas and it seems to have worked..well so far anyway!

If we get new stock fencing it is going to have a strand of electric wire all around the top!!!

Harley does that too Gill, i only buy cheap rugs and then get the fronts reinforced to withstand the onslaught. Funny how Apollo is in the same field and his rugs never get messed up!
