Much as it saddens me that I am unable to devote time to working with Gulliver myself, I need to help my folks find a loving home for him. He needs some (aka a lot!) work and schooling.
I need to find out about pretty much everything - specifically what you need to put in writing wrt loan agreements; and I guess who sorts what insurance; does pony go with tack (my own feeling on this is no - the pony I had many years ago arrived with nothing more than a headcollar!)
Gully is blind in one eye (argued with a blackthorn bush shortly before we took him on), and has slight issues around cars - something which mum makes a big deal over, but, given time and understanding I am certain that he would overcome this fear.
All help, suggestions, places to seek good advice etc would be much appreciated. And, of course I will need to start seeking out a home for him.

I,m sorry you find your self in this position its very hard I know, as for loaning the BHS has a loan form you can down load which pretty much covers all issues of loaning. I have Perrywinkle on permanent loan and Celia and I drew up our own agreement between us, basicaly I pay for everything and have provided all tack and rugs for her, the only thing Celia pays for is her insurance and I think thats pretty fare as Its just like owning her really, but I know there are so many things to take into consideration, it helps as well if you get on with the person and can discuss things openly, hope that helps and best of luck.

I have Dancer on permanent loan and really consider him as mine; I pay for all things including insurance, vaccinations etc. and have bought him his own tack. I suppose a loan agreement can be whatever you both agree on, but I would expect the loaner to take responsibility for most things. Re. tack, you may either not want to have your own tack spoiled or it may be more important that he goes with tack that fits - this is your decision at the end of the day! You'd need to make the the loaner is 100% aware of any issues and that they are competent to cope with them. Hopefully you will be able to find someone who is trustworthy and kind, good luck
