Just wondered if anyone had any homemade remedies to share. I ask as I was watching one of those animal rescue programmes from the states and the vets there used sugar to bring down swelling on a very nasty cut to a young horses leg. Never heard of that before but apparently it's tried and tested. Just got me thinking!!! (yes, a scary thought).
A vet nurse friend of mine suggested head and shoulders for my dog's skin complaint (allergic to grass) and it really did work! (after we had spent close to £1k at another vets trying to sort it out).
Any others?
Jo

My farrier swears by brown sugar mixed into a paste with iodine and applied to thrushy deep hoof clefts. pack it in and apply a bandage over night and they are lovely and clean in the morning. Well thats what he says!!
Sudo crem applied liberally to hard over grown chestnuts can be nipped off easily with secaturs the next day. (ergots too!)
