Quite a few of mine have had splints - large ones too, and never been lame so I've ignored them. Some people do put stuff on and claim it works in reducing the splint, I'm sure they will reply! I've never tried personally, I think you probably have to catch the splint in its early stages for anything to have a chance of working.

Splintex can work, I'm with Anna on that one.
Piper has them too - he got them pretty much as soon as I started really working him and I'm not sure why as it wasn't as if he'd done nothing when I bought him - in fact he had a very illustrious showing career in his day! Anyway, he never had a day lame with them either!! He also has an interesting little marble sized lump on his outer fetlock on one foreleg which never seemed to bother him - he does not like hard ground though so I'm careful to "listen" to what he's saying on that score.
Interestingly I was talking last year to my friends in Spain and Andalusians and Lusitanos are apparently fairly prone to splints also - it's that high stepping action I'm told!

Have you used it Penny- does it work? Not sure if it would be worth having a go with Sammy as she has had hers for a while.
