Good luck. Fingers crossed all goes well. It is always a worrying time when they're away at the hospital, but I'm sure all will be fine.

I'm sure he'll be in the best of care, but I'll keep fingers crossed for him. I know how worrying it can be.
Is it an in/out op, or will they keep him a day to be sure?

OMG the last few days have been awful and to top it off my computer decided to have a sicky too; ive only today been able to sit and do something with it!
Anyway Wednesday Doc loaded & travelled brilliantly, he was rather sweaty after his journey but settled well; i filled in the forms they asked me to, said a sad goodbye to Doc and left thinking id be picking Doc up Friday morning.
Thursday At 1.30pm the vet rang me - "Im dreadfully sorry to tell you this but keyhole surgery just wont work, his problem is far more serious than we could imagine" MY HEART SANK at these words. She then went on to say that it was unlikely that Doc would servive AFTER the operation and asked me what i wanted to happen . . . . . . . OBVIOUSLY i said for them to try their best and save him. At this point i was now in panic/shock mode and waiting by the phone for another call.
5.10pm the vet rang "Im very pleased to say that the operation has beter than expected". Id been crying my eyes up since 1.30 thinking the worst so to hear those words were simply heavenly and indeed made me cry evenmore! She then went into explaining the situation and apologized for saying such upsetting words earlier that day; she then went onto say that due to Doc having major surgery he would not be released until at least Monday.
Apparently Doc did not have a hernia at all but a "Hydrocele" and it wasn't until they had fully opened his scrotal sack that this was identified as they DO take on the characteristics of a hernia/intestines. Im told they are very rare and cyst/absyss like things - Doc has had the sceptic fluid drained and the sack it encased itself in cut out; he has not been stitched but left open as if been gelded (but the wounds are much longer). I also found out that the manipulation that i was told to do by my vets (to aid the so called hernia back into the abdominal wall) could have actually caused this Hydrocele to burst and poison him!
Friday Id been told i couldn't visit or ring and just to wait for them to inform me of any changes. 9.40am they rang to say Doc was comfortable, eating and had been moved back to the stable block; his wounds we very clean and they were impressed with his well being.
Saturday 1.10pm i had a phone call to say that Doc was doing exceptionally well and wounds were far better than they could imagine.
Sunday 9.10am i had a call to say that IF i could get to the practice by 12pm Doc could be discharged and come home!!!!! I soon rang the transport lady and we got there by 11.45am.
Doc looks bright enough in his eyes but his body is a little worse for wears; slightly tucked up, got bits shaven from him all over and two large open wounds BUT his home now and getting plenty TLC - He is one very lucky lad.

Oh crikey, what a week! So pleased to hear that Doc is doing well now, and is at home again. I can just imagine what a rollercoaster of emotions you've been having. I've never heard of a hydrocele - will have to look it up and find out more. Always curious about these things.
Big scritches for Doc, and some virtual carrots too!

Me either...I'd never heard of such a thing. What an awful roller coaster ride for you, but thankful to hear the lad is back home in your tender loving care. Will keep everything crossed for a straightforward recovery....

What an awful week for you. Glad it has turned out ok now and you can relax a bit. I've heard of hydroceles in humans but not horses!
