Well its been 4 weeks since Doc's operation and you can see from the title of this thread Ive now learned what it is that his had ("Hospital Trip" is our earlier thread)! His left scrotum is slightly swollen where the wound is and he almost looks like a proper gelding on this side however; his right scrotal sack is looking inflated again. The surgeon who operated on him has been on holiday so Ive only recently spoken to her (in her absence i Emailed some photos across to aid my description); she reckons its quite normal but to be safe Doc is having another week on antibiotics & anti-inflammatories. She said that Hydrocele's in horses is an "Idiopathic condition" (or in English "we haven't a clue what we're dealing with" condition) Its all very frustrating and people at the yard keep telling me to get yet another opinion on the matter. Doc has had quite invasive surgery and the last thing i want is for him to go and have an explorative investigation; so what Ive decided to do is leave him to recover over the winter and see how it looks Feb/March and take it from there.

Its more of a worry when the vets tell you they really don't know. At least they're being honest, though. I tend to agree with you....unless something drastically changes, I'd be leaving him to overwinter as well. LOL.... nice to see you haven't stopped his eating
