I have noticed that Merls has a few scurfy bare patches, there dose,nt seem to be any irritation, I,m just wondering if him and Tommy have been play fighting and he has just taken a few chunks of hair out of him, I,m just not sure....any idea,s ?

It could easily be from them playing Van. Sometimes Blossom comes up with scrapes and scratches, from rubbing on the trees in her field, but she definitely had a big bald patch from where Lady bear bit or kicked her

Dancer had an inch square bald chunk on his cheek today! Definitely play-fighting I'd say (or play-biting!). The ponies can really get hold of the long winter coat with their teeth

Just keep an eye out for ringworm. If he is getting lots of these. They do get chunks munched out in play fighting but ring worm may raise its ugly head in this mild weather.
I had this once. Aroma therapy oils sorted it out for me.

I have checked Merls all over today and realised what this is and could honestly kick myself for not spotting it sooner, but I have seen this before on Sam my grey cob, I,m pretty sure that Merls is overheating he has been on Haylage and I think its too much for him, I,m sure someone else on here had the same problem, his hard feed is the same the only thing I have changed over the last few weeks is the fact they are all on haylage instead of hay, I have found loads of these lumps and they have scabbed up in a few places mainly on his neck I think they are called protein lumps, all the others seem fine, but I,m sure thats what it is.
