I wondered if Harleydales, and anyone else with a headshaker, had seen this in Horse and Hound today.
Liverpool Uni are looking for owners of headshakers to take part in a 10 week trial, feeding them a natural supplement to see if it helps alleviate the symptoms.
Apparently a university technician will video them before, during and after the trial.
Phone no. for more info is: 0151 794 6008
Waterside Grace is a mild headshaker, so I am going to phone them tomorrow, on her owner's behalf. Looks like they think they are onto something - let's hope!

Thanks, I think I'll phone them too. Worth a try isn't it! Wonder if they'll send a technician up here though.... Cheers!

Yes, if it involves going to Liverpool that would be too far for us as well, but you never know. Registering interest might mean we might get information on how the trial went, if nothing else.

Interesting. I haven't read my H&H yetbut diffinately worth a ring for any one with a head shaker.
I had Quest in some headshaker trials with De Montford University many years ago. We trialled various things including the now commonly used nose net. It was very interesting as I as sent a full report of all the results.
Any one know what the supplement Liverpool are trialling is?

I would have asked, Pam, if I had got through. Think they must have been inundated. Harleydales - did you have any better luck?

Sorry, too busy getting sorted to depart for a week, so never got chance to phone. Might try tomorrow - maybe I can leave a message?
I'm sure they will have been inundated - it is such a frustrating and upsetting problem. Poor Apollo wasso out of sorts when he wasat his worst, it was awful to see.
Keep tryng!!

I heard about the research and rung straight away, Curly is totally unrideable because of headshaking so really pleased for any sort of trial... I have left messages etc but never heard a thing! I dont know if that is because where we live? but he is certainly a chronic headshaker and I am happy to do whatever it takes to help find a cure, not necessarily for him (being 16 years old) but for others....
